What supplies and materials did you use?
Rubber stamped image of a vintage style woman’s face
Parchment paper
Chalk pastels
Pendant “cup” (Copper coated resin)
Mulberry paper
Gold paint
A few found objects
Diamond Glaze. ( From Ornamentea )
Copper acrylic beads
Thin Copper chain
What techniques did you use?
I made this for myself a few months ago. It is one of my favorites and most complimented pieces.
I started with a rubber stamped image of a vintage style woman’s face on parchment paper. I gently tore away the edges, hand-colored with pastels then distressed the paper. The pendant “cup” was lined with bits of torn Mulberry paper. I added the stamped image with Mod Podge, then a bit of gold paint was swished across the edges . A few found objects were glued on. Then it was coated in Diamond Glaze. ( From Ornamentea ). The copper beads are actually acrylic and were strung on a very fine copper chain. It made a very light necklace with the look of heavy copper.
Lessons Learned
- I had experimented with different ways to color the stamped image. I used some beautiful colors of ink markers, but when I applied the diamond glaze the colors ran. I found that the chalks did not.
Why is this such a favorite jewelry piece?
It's is so different than everything I had made previously. It's called "Moods" and that kinda describes me ( it's an artist's prerogative!) And, I have had several requests for personalized versions, so making more of them has been rewarding.
