Art Nouveau Copper Etched Bracelet

What supplies and materials did you use?

I am really enjoying my journey in learning to etch metals. Being able to experiment with taking interesting images and transferring my ideas to metal is very creatively satisfying. This bracelet is one of my projects that I am particularly proud of. My main materials were copper, turquoise, and quality elastic cord. There were also etching chemicals involved.

What techniques did you use?

Again, copper etching is the main technique used. This process involves finding or drawing my own image, transferring this image to my computer, using a program to manipulate this image, printing this image onto transparencies with a laser printer, using heat to bond this image to the metal, and then using etching chemicals. The results are great! I also used some metalworking and of course the beading of the turquoise.

Advice

  • There are ALL sorts of articles on the internet that teach the copper etching process....some in computer "nerd" sites which talk about etching circuit boards (the same process). The best thing to do is just jump in and experiment after you read this material. And have fun!!! (at least copper is not that expensive!)

Why do you think this bracelet has become a favorite?

I love the color of the turquoise and the art nouveau design.
