Hi, I'm Tammy Janine Powley and welcome to the Jewelry Making site at the Mining Co. I love jewelry and have been making and selling my own designs for the past eight years through local art shows, boutiques, and galleries. Though my original jewelry making roots date back to the 70s, I didn't get serious about it until October of 1989. After making some Christmas presents out of stone beads purchased at a gem show, people started asking to buy my work. That's how my small business, which I call Jewelry by Janine started.

To develop my jewelry making skills, I enrolled in a jewelry class where I studied for two years learning everything from casting to knotting. But, there are always new techniques and new ideas when it comes to making jewelry. That's what I plan to bring to others like me in this web site. Each week, I'll be bringing you insights on the latest jewelry trends; information about the raw materials used in jewelry making such as stones, minerals, and metals; interesting and fun projects you can make; sources where you can find supplies and equipment; and links to a variety of jewelry artists. Bookmark this site now so you can return often.

This is your site, so feel free to participate and send me lots of suggestions that we can share with other jewelry making enthusiasts.
