Crochet Flower, Pearls, and Crystal Necklace

Tammy Powley
Many crafters have more than one hobby they enjoy, so I like to try to figure out ways to combine them when possible. This necklace design mixes basic crochet techniques with some simple jewelry methods. Even if you are a novice at crochet or jewelry making, however, you can still easily make this pretty mixed-media necklace.

You will need the following tools and supplies:

Ruler
Size 10 metallic crochet thread
1 - 2.25mm crochet hook
Scissors
Fabric stiffener
Waxed paper
7mm sterling jump ring
6 - 2x2 sterling crimp beads
2 - 6mm Swarovski bicone clear AB crystals
4 - 4mm light purple pearls
18 inches of .019 Extreme Soft-Flex sterling silver beading wire
*1 Sterling silver wire flower clasp
Crimping pliers
Wire cutters or beading wire cutter
2 Chain-nosed pliers

*If you haven't worked with wire, I still urge you to try making a wire flower clasp for this project. Practice with inexpensive copper wire first, and then when you have it down, use sterling wire to make one for this necklace. However, if you don't feel up to making this clasp, consider purchasing a clasp that has some kind of flower motif on it so that it helps stay with the "flower" theme of this design.
