Curly Wire and Hematite Bead Ring

Curly Wire and Hematite Bead Ring

Tammy Powley
If you like instant gratification, and who doesn’t, then you’ll enjoy making this quick Curly Wire and Bead Ring. Of course, they aren’t as quick as instant coffee, but they are pretty easy to make and take only a small amount of wire and a few beads. I show two variations, one using a hematite bead and one using a ceramic bead from Peru, but the method to make them is the same.

You’ll need:

2-3 inches 18-gauge round wire
2-3 inches 22-28-gauge round wire
1-13x4mm Hematite tube bead or 1 - 6mm bead
Wire cutters
Round-nosed pliers
Jeweler's file
Chain-nosed pliers
Raw hide hammer
Ring mandrel

Note about Sizing:

To make a size 5 ring, I used 2 inches of wire when I made the copper and hematite ring pictured. However, this will vary depending on the size of your beads. For the green ring which is a size 8, I used almost 3 inches of wire, but my bead was shorter than the hematite tube I used in the first ring. Play around with it, and remember that the wire isn’t going completely around a finger since a bead is added in the center. In other words, the amount of wire you need and the ring since will have to be adjusted depending on the size of the bead to a certain extent.
