Hook and Eye Wire Clasp

Hook and Eye Wire Clasp

Tammy Powley
For almost all my necklaces, I create my own clasp. Often, I find this simple hook and eye clasp works the best for many designs. You just need about 3 to 4 inches of wire and can use any number of gauges depending on how heavy the jewelry piece is that you plan to connect it to. As a general rule, though, if I'm using gold-filled or sterling silver wire, I often use 20-gauge wire for this hook and eye jewelry finding.

You'll need:

Wire cutters
Jeweler's files
Ruler
Round-nosed pliers
