Wrapped Hook Clasp

By , About.com Guide

1 of 4

Introduction & Materials

Whip up this simple hook clasp using a little wire and a few hand-tools. For the other side of the clasp, either use a jump ring or figure eight (aka eye) component.

You’ll need:

*6 inches 20-gauge round dead-soft or half-hard wire
Jeweler’s file
Round-nosed pliers
Wire cutters

*If the jewelry piece you plan to use this hook with is heavy, I would go with half-hard wire. Otherwise, since the wire is 20-gauge (fairly thick), I have found that dead-soft will work with most light-weight jewelry designs.
