Wire Coil and Chain Briolette Earrings

Wire Coil and Chain Briolette Earrings

Tammy Powley
If you have worked with wire before but would like to step things up a notch, and I mean just one because these aren't that hard, then this project which combines a number of metal wire fabrication techniques will help you hone your wire skills. Plus, you end up with a unique pair of earrings with lots of design possibilities.

You'll need the following materials and supplies:

2 - 5 inch pieces of 21-gauge red brass dead-soft wire
2 - 4 inch pieces of 21-gauge red brass dead-soft wire
2 - 1 1/4 inch pieces of gold-tone small link chain
*2 - 3mm red brass jump rings
*1 pair of red brass ear hooks
2 - 8x4mm faceted smoky quartz briolette beads
Bezel mandrel
Wire cutters
Round-nosed pliers
Chain-nosed pliers
Jeweler's files
Small metal hammer (ball peen or chasing)
Small anvil

*You can either use pre-fabricated findings or make your own jump rings and ear hooks. I made my own for these earrings, so if you decided to also, just make sure you have enough extra wire to do so.
