Basic Wire Bangle

Basic Wire Bangle

Tammy Powley
Bangle bracelets are a popular design. Most people either have one already or wish they had one. This wire bangle design is a basic form that can be modified to create a variety of different looks. Beads can be added. More wire in the middle can make it thicker. Stones can be attached to it as well.

Here are the supplies and equipment you will need:

About 3.5 feet of Gold-filled 20-gauge square wire
About 6 to 10 inches of Gold-filled 18-gauge half-round wire
Clamps
Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers
Hand-drill (if you want to twist some of the wire)
Vice
Polishing cloth or wash cloth

First, it is necessary to determine the size of the bangle bracelet. If you want to make a 7 inch bangle, which is a small to average size, you will need to cut two 15 inch pieces of square wire. If you to make a 7 1/2 inch bangle, you will need two 15 1/2 inch pieces and one 8 inch piece of square wire. Do you notice a trend here? Basically, to determine the size of the two long pieces, double the size of the bracelet and add 1 inch. For the shorter wire, you add 1/2 inch. Once you’ve determined the size of your bangle and cut the appropriate size wire, the assembly can begin.
