Introduction & Supplies

I’m a major heart fanatic. Even if it’s not Valentine’s Day, I enjoy wearing heart themed jewelry, but I don’t always want to go overboard with holiday-themed jewelry. It’s nice to have something you can wear all year long, something subtle and sophisticated.

That was my design direction for this necklace project, “Good as Gold Heart Necklace.” It incorporates Venetian gold foiled beads, a few crystals, and gold-coated beading wire. The heart shaped bead tips add another subtle touch to the finished necklace.

Here are the supplies I used for this necklace:

From Fire Mountain Gems:
2 – 14 inch pieces of .019 gold-coated accu-flex beading wire
2 heart-shaped (“Hot Tips”) antiqued-gold bead tips (H15-4878FD)
1 gold-plated spiral toggle clasp (H143974FD)
15 – 2x2mm gold-filled crimp bead tubes

From Gems2Behold.com:
1 medium gold foil and pink Tosca glass heart bead (SKU: HG-23-TOS-PI)
2 - 10mm gold foil and pink Tosca glass cube bead (SKU: CG-10-TOS-PI)
2 - 12mm gold foil and pink Tosca glass round beads (SKU: RG-12-TOS-PI)
4 – 6mm Swarovski light topaz round crystal beads (SKU: F-S-RD-06-TPL)

Tools you’ll need:

Crimping pliers
Wire cutters
Flat nosed pliers
Ruler
