This is one of the first chain projects I made when I was learning to solder for the first time, and it is an excellent way to practice soldering. If you are new to soldering, I recommend making it in copper (like the chain pictured) first before attempting it with other metals silver sterling silver.

You'll need:

*Lots of 18-gauge wire of your choice
1/2 inch diameter wooden dowel
Jeweler’s saw & blades
Bees wax
Jeweler's files
Hard solder
Flux
Pickle Two flat-nosed or chain-nosed pliers

You'll also need a basic setup for soldering.

*The amount of wire you need depends on how long you plan to make the chain. I would recommend starting out with at least 6 feet or so, especially if you are just learning soldering for the first time.
