Blue Sea Treasure Necklace

Tammy Powley
Glass seed beads are too often delegated to bead weaving. While weaving with seed beads is a wonderful art form, there are lots of other possibilities for designing jewelry using tiny seed beads. In this Blue Sea Glass and Pewter Treasure Necklace project, I use a mix of seed beads and other glass beads and accent them with a literal "wave" of seed beads interspersed down the necklace straps. The focal point is a pewter pendant that looks like an old piece of silver either discovered in a ship wreck or dug up as a piece of buried treasure.

You will need the following tools and supplies:

*1 - 25mm Antique silver pewter ancient coin pendant
*1 Bag of Miyuki seed bead mix, deep blue see
*1 Bag of Miyuki size 11/0 seed beads, metallic indigo iris
1 - 24 inch Strand of .014 or .015 beading wire
1 - 30 inch Strand of .014 or .015 beading wire
2 - 5mm Sterling silver jump rings
2 Sterling silver bead tips
1 - 9mm Lobster clay clasp
Beading awl or corsage pinbr> Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers
2 Bead Stoppers

* These items were provided by Auntie's Beads: coin pendant #7664; bead mix #sb-8-MIX-19, and size 11 seed beads #sb-11-467.
