Wire and Pearl Cross Pendant

Introduction and Materials

Pearls come in all kinds of unusual shapes these days, so it is fun to incorporate them into jewelry designs to make something a little unusual. But, what do you do when they have no hole? If the pearl piece is large enough, you can make a simple wire wrapped bale for it. That’s what I did with this cross-shaped pearl component.

Since you will use dead-soft wire for this, most of the wrapping can be done using your fingers. But, for the bale, I suggest using two pliers, one in each hand.

You’ll need:
*1 – 10x38mm Keshi cross-shaped pearl component
6 inches of 22-gauge dead soft round gold-filled wire
Round-nosed pliers
2 pair of flat-nosed or bent-nosed pliers
*The cross-shaped pearl component used for this pendant came from Undrilledpearls.com.
