4. Next, use a toothpick and push it through the areas of the clay that you want holes to be in later. Depending on the design, you could put holes at the top and/or bottom.

5. Or you could also put them on the sides. Consider your design before punching the holes.

6. Allow the paper clay to dry, and once it is dry, use a nail file to file any rough areas of the clay.

At this point, your paper clay charm is ready to embellish. You could use acrylic paint, gel markers, pigment inks, all kinds of things to add color to these. Remember that these are now technically paper, so you have a large variety of media available for coloring them.
