Paper Clay Star

By , About.com Guide

1 of 8

Introduction and Materials

This is one of my first attempts at making something with paper clay, so I went big – cookie cutter big. However, you could use the same technique and scale it down, either finding a smaller cookie cutter (many polymer clay suppliers carry smaller cutters of various shapes) or making a smaller template from cardboard and using a knife to cut out the shape. This way, you could use this same technique and make smaller paper components that could be incorporated into earrings or be used as pendants.

You’ll need:

Paper clay
Small bowl of water
Hand towel or paper towels
Star cookie cutter
Rolling pin
Waxed paper
Finger nail file
Chop stick
Foam brush
Acrylic gold paint
12 inches of red 3/8” wide ribbon
Gel Medium
Black fine pigment ink pen
3 inches of scrap wire
