Quitting my job, moving my family to California (thus causing my husband to do the same!) and plowing our savings into starting Luxe Jewels! It's scary to do something new- you always think, am I totally crazy? And I think the answer to that is partly yes, but that is what it takes- if you want to be successful, you have to just jump in (and not over think, or you'll never do anything!) It helped that I had done this before, when I started WeddingChannel.com. I learned that if you just apply enough effort, long enough, to a GOOD idea that makes sense, it will happen.
6. How have you managed to get other jewelry designers (such as Maya Brenner) involved in the company, and do you plan to bring on more designers to help you in the future?
A mutual friend put me in touch with Maya. As soon as we met, we knew it was a fit. Maya LOVED the idea of Luxe Jewels and I LOVED her amazing designs and sense of style. Plus, her celebrity following is certainly fun! Having gone through the struggle herself of building a successful jewelry business, she knew Luxe Jewels made so much sense for all the other people out there that dreamed about making a profit doing something creative and flexible. I also partnered with Janice Parsons, who brought on Winnie Van der Ryhn. Two of the greatest instructors and designers you could ever meet! Luxe Jewels is really lucky to have talented designers with varying styles to appeal to a really broad market. They give our consultants so much opportunity and inspiration! As for future designers, our customers and our Consultants are the designers! We source the right quality beads and findings, based on what we know to be the latest styles coming in the future, and then provide the materials and inspirations...
