While her style may be a little over the top (such as drilling holes in monster-sized plastic hoop earrings and dangling little pencil charms from them) for some with more conservative tastes and work environments, there is a lot more between the pages of this book than just some off the wall jewelry designs. She shows how to incorporate a lot of every day and found items with simple techniques not always connected to jewelry. For example, in her "Shredded Junk Mail Bangles" project, she shows how to use shredded junk mail and decoupage medium to cover bracelet banks. Of course, her tastes leans towards super big bangles, but you could use the exact same project instructions and simple select a smaller bracelet and still create a colorful bracelet that you could comfortably to any office.
Other interesting techniques she uses which you don't normally see with traditional jewelry making includes mixing resin in ice cube trays; incorporating button covers into bracelets, earrings, and a ring; using industrial plastic tubing to make a bracelet form; and the list really goes on. This book is made to tickle your funny bone but also get you to start thinking creatively at the same time while you learn some techniques that aren't necessarily difficult but also aren't what you normally might think about when it comes to jewelry making.
