Cut and Prep Copper Sheet

Dremel Attachment

Tammy Powley
First I cut a piece of copper plate into a rectangle 1 3/4 inch long by 1/4 inch wide. I used my metal cutting scissors, but you could also use a hand saw. Since my scissors bent the plate up, I used my raw hide hammer and anvil to bang it back into a nice flat piece.

Now, the next part depends on what kind of shape your plate is in. Mine was very scratched up. So, I used an attachment (pictured) on my Dremel to buff out the scratches. If you use this attachment, be careful because little particles come off the brush which will hit you in the eyes so protective eye wear is recommended. If you don’t have this attachment, then try some very fine sand paper.
