Silver Metal Clay Flower Beads

Silver Metal Clay Flower Beads

Tammy Powley
Maybe this is considered cheating, but making silver metal clay beads is even easier now with the help of bead cores, which I picked up from Metal Clay Findings. I covered these fine silver cores with tiny little flowers of clay and fired them to create some quick and simple fine silver beads.

To make these Silver Metal Clay Flower Beads, you will need the following tools and materials:

*Low-fire silver metal clay (about a dime-sized piece)
*Low-fire silver metal clay slip
1/4 inch Bead core (one for each bead you plan to make)
10mm Metal flower-shaped cutter
Olive oil
6 playing cards
Metal clay hand tools such as a roller and work surface
Straight pin or dental instrument
Hot pot
Burnishing brush

*You can use either PMC3 or Art Clay 650 for this project. Other types of clay will work too, but more than likely the other clays (depending on what you use) will require you to use a kiln to fire them in.
