Organic Copper Clay Flower, Crystal, and Mixed Metal Necklace

Tammy Powley
Make a pendant from copper clay and then team it up with lots of brass and copper wire accented with crystal beads for an organic-style necklace design.

To make the Organic Copper Clay Flower, Crystal, and Mixed Metal Necklace, you will need the following materials and equipment:

Kiln (preferably a programmable one)
1 - 4 inch metal pan with lid
1 Metal clay removal fork
Activated carbon granules
Copper Clay
6mm Metal round cutter
15mm Metal flower-shaped cutter
25x15mm Metal oval cutter
Olive oil
6 playing cards
Metal clay hand tools such as a roller and work surface
Burnishing brush
Polisher (such as a polishing kit or magnetic polisher)
Jeweler's file
Fine-grit sandpaper
Two-Hole metal punch
3mm Wooden dowel
*22 - 6mm Aquamarine-colored crystal beads
2 1/2 feet of 21-gauge dead-soft copper wire
2 1/2 feet of 21-gauge dead-soft red brass wire
Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers

Note on Supplies: The crystals came from Rings & Things, item #28-371-06-502. Rio Grande carries copper clay, brand name Coppr Clay, and I also pick up some large rolls of red brass and copper wire from them in one pound rolls.
