Textured Copper and Crystal Earrings

Tammy Powley
If you have been interested in trying out copper clay, then this project is an excellent introduction to it. Make the simple copper textured disc components, and then transform them in to some earrings that mix sparkle with the earth-tones of copper.

To make a pair of Copper Clay Textured Disc and Crystal Earrings, you will need the following materials and equipment:

Kiln (preferably a programmable one)
1 - 4 inch metal pan with lid
1 Metal clay removal fork
Activated carbon granules
Copper Clay
12mm metal round cutter
Olive oil
6 playing cards
Metal clay hand tools such as a roller and work surface
Burnishing brush
Rouge polishing cloth
Anvil and ball peen hammer
Two-Hole metal punch
2 - 6mm Clear crystal beads
4 - 3mm Copper daisy spacer beads
*2 Copper ear hooks
6 inches of 21-gauge dead-soft copper wire
Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers

*If you decide to make your own ear hooks, make sure you have another few inches of copper wire for this purpose.
