5. Let the end of the rod get red hot but not to the point where it is sagging. About 1-2 inches of rod is a good amount to get hot.
6. Once it gets red hot, take it out of the flame, and use the tweezers to grasp the hot glass. (Don’t stick the tweezers into the flame, or the glass will stick to them).
7. Now is the tricky part. You need to wait about five seconds, and then use the tweezers to pull the hot glass away from the glass rod. You will make a "string" of glass.
8. Break the string off the rod by quickly passing the end of the stringer, which is furthest way from the tweezers, in and out of the flame.
9. Gently set your stringer down, as they can break easily.
Different size stringers can be made depending on how much glass is heated on the end of the rod and how far a stringer is pulled. For thicker stringers, use more glass or don’t pull as far.
