Stringers are thin piece of glass used to decorate lampwork beads as well as fused glass jewelry components. After forming the hot glass on a rod to form a lampwork bead, the glass artist can use stringers to add dots and lines to the bead while it is still hot. While you can purchase pre-made stringers, they are easy to make and are also a good way to introduce yourself to glass torch work.

To make your own stringers, you will need the following equipment and supplies:

Glass rods (at least one)
Torch (in a stand or bolted to table)
Metal table top
Long handled tweezers
Safety glasses
Bowl of water
