A Magazine for the Jewelry Artist

By , About.com Guide

For those jewelry makers not bitten by the bead bug or who want to move on beyond the bead, there is Jewelry Artist ($5.99 US; 7.99 CAN), the publishing child of the once leading magazine Lapidary Journal. Other than a few ads, it is pretty rare that you will find a bead between these pages, which can be a good thing considering there are so many beading magazines available these days.

Much like it's mother magazine, this newer generation covers jewelry making; however, compared to the previous model, this one is a little less focused on rocks (though each issue does have some lapidary articles still) and a lot more focused on making jewelry. That jewelry primarily consists of metal work such as soldering, fabrication, what most would consider fine jewelry but with more of artistic flair because you won't see these designs in your average jewelry shop.

I found a copy at my grocery store's newsstands, so most book stores I'm sure also carry them. Or you can find out more about what's inside each issue as well as subscription information at the Jewelry Artist web site.
