Jewelry Crafts Magazine

I’m going to admit to being bias when it comes to talking about Jewelry Crafts magazine. I write for this magazine fairly frequently, so of course, I like them (a lot). However, as part of my effort to give out helpful information about the huge number of jewelry making and beading related magazines available today, I’ll try to be at least a little objective here.

One thing that I would say distinguishes Jewelry Crafts from all the other magazines out there now is the fact that it usually has something for everyone: jewelry business information; artists’ spotlights; polymer clay project; precious metal clay; silversmithing; beading projects; wire jewelry projects; jewelry related news; product announcements; show schedules; and an on-line vender directory. For those of us who like to make jewelry using a variety of mediums, then I think this is a good resource.

Another plus, I have to say, is the price when compared to some magazine subscriptions that are usually at least $20, depending on where you sign up for a subscription. (I know there are some places you can get these discounted on the web.) The newsstand price for Jewelry Crafts is $3.99 an issue, and subscriptions go for about $12 a year. This is a bimonthly magazine, so that’s, what, two bucks an issue? It’s kind of hard not to think that’s a deal.
