Polyester Chain

Jewelry Component Review

By , About.com Guide

When I think of polyester, those itchy pants we used to wear back in the 1970s are the first thoughts that come to mind. They sure didn't wrinkle! I would never have thought of polyester and chain at the same time, but there is such a thing as polyester chain made by Beadalon.

First, why polyester? This material, just like with pants - itchy and all - has some advantanges. For example, it is very light-weight. Therefore, you can get a chunky look without the chunky weight of a metal chain. Another cool feature is the fact that you can get this chain in different colors, such as dark green, black, grey, and brown.

Since this chain is made with something other than metal, you can cut it with scissors instead of wire cutters. It comes prepackaged in lengths of 2.5 feet (.76m) and each link on the chain is about 8mm in size.

For those who enjoy creating mixed media jewelry designs, this is an interesting option. You can find polyester chain at most retailers who carry Beadalon products. For a list, check the list at "Where to Buy" at the Beadalon web site.
