Wire Herringbone CD

Weaving With Wire

Herringbone Weave CD ClassBeadshop.com
Well, it looks like Beadshop.com has another winner in its growing collection of virtual jewelry making classes. This time it’s the Herringbone Weave: Step-by-Step Class as Taught by Kriss Silva. Available on CD for $14.95 plus shipping, it includes step-by-step color-illustrated instructions for learning the herringbone weave technique, a unique wire wrapping method where you weave wire around a bead. As the technique is described in the class, it incorporates two projects: a gemstone and sterling silver bracelet and a ruby and sterling silver pendant. The pendant project can also be used to make earring dangles.

I was very excited to try this out, and I immediately thought of some large amethyst beads I had that were a little large for me to wear in one piece. I followed the pendant directions, and even though my bead was not at all flat like is suggested for the project on the CD, I still had success with my finished piece.

This is a great beginning class, and for those with a little wire experience, I still think you’ll get something out of it if you aren’t familiar with the herringbone weave technique.
