Sense Earrings

Tammy Powley
Jane Austen’s novel Sense and Sensibility is about two sisters who are about the same age but who have different temperaments. Elinor uses her head to guide her. Marianne uses her heart. I used these two sisters to inspire two pairs of earrings. Both are very similar in design, but they have enough differences to make them stand on their own. This project shows how to make the Sense Earrings. You can find the Sensibility earrings here.

I used star beads in this earring design to represent the mind.

To make these you’ll need:

6 inches of 20 gauge round silver wire
2 hematite star beads
4 4mm crystal beads
2 sterling ear hooks
Round-nosed pliers
Wire cutters
Jewelers’ files
Chain-nosed pliers
