Another area you may need space for is when applying kiln wash to your kiln shelf or glass molds. The wash keeps the glass from sticking. It takes a while for the wash to dry so I like to do this ahead of time and have at least one shelf and a few molds ready to go so that I don't have to wait around when I want to put something in the kiln.
