Raku Bead & Hemp Necklace

Raku Bead & Hemp Necklace

Tammy Powley
Start with 3 feet of hemp (obviously, if you want this necklace to be longer - it's about 16 inches - you'll want to start with a longer piece of hemp), locate the center, and tie two overhand knots, one on top of the other.

Slip on raku bead on, push it down to the middle, and again tie two overhand knots, one on top of the other so that your bead has knots securing it on either side.

Note: Hemp tends to be a type of stringing medium that is not always consistent in diameter, so just be prepared for this. Also as you start to string, the ends will get frayed some, so you may need to use scissors to trim off the ends now and then. I purposely wanted some large knots in between my beads because I wanted to make sure the hemp showed up, sort of like tiny fabric beads. This is why I created two knots, one on top of the other, for each knot section.
