1. Bead caps! Like the name suggests, bead caps are sort of like little hats for your beads. Simply slip on one bead cap so the cup is facing up, added a bead, and then slip the other cap so the cap is facing down and they both hold your bead between them. Bead caps come in all kinds of metals too, such as sterling (pictured) or gold-filled and are a great way to add some elegance to your earring designs.
2. Double it up. After making one earring bead section, don't stop there. Make a second, only this time use an eye pin rather than a head pin, and connect the one loop of the eye pin to the previous earring section and the other to your ear hook.
3. Double or triple it up. Another way to do double or even triple dangles is to make the bead sections and dangle two or three from the same point on the ear hook. If your ear hook loop is too small to accommodate multiple bead sections, add a larger jump ring and dangle them from the jump ring.
4. Add a unique head pin as a design element. You can buy all kinds of unusual head pins these days. Or, make your own, like my heart head pin design.
5. Hook the look. Rather than stick with tried and true fish hook style ear hooks, branch out. How about some Eurowires (aka lever backs) for a change?
6. Add a bead to your ear hooks. Make your own simple ear hooks from wire and then add a bead before you bend it.
