Crystal Badge Lanyard Necklace

Introduction and Materials

More and more of us these days are required to wear badges where we work, but just because we have to wear something utilitarian around our necks doesn’t mean they can’t also be attractive as well as functional pieces of jewelry.

I opted for clear aurora borealis (AB) beads for this so I could wear it with anything, but you may want to consider making this in all kinds of colors so that you create your own lanyard wardrobe.

You’ll need:

186 – 4mm clear AB Czech Crystals
182 – size 12 silver-colored Japanese seed beads
*1 – Swivel clip
*1 – Plastic card holder
4 – 2x2 sterling crimp beads
2 – 10mm 16 or 14 gauge jump rings
2 – piece of .014 beading wire 24 inches each
Crimping pliers
2 pairs of flat-nosed pliers
Wire cutters or beading wire cutter

*Swivel clip and plastic card holder available at Fire Mountain Gems and Beads. Just use the site's search option and the keyword "badge" for a number of related supplies.
