Chunky Turquoise Ocean-Theme Charm Bracelet

Tammy Powley
I made this chunky charm bracelet for a friend who asked for a nautical themed silver and turquoise bracelet. It's funny because I thought it wouldn't work out since there are so many charms. I thought it would be too heavy to wear. However, while it is a chunk of a bracelet, the silver charms combined with the turquoise chips really create a dramatic affect that I think works. She loved it, and of course, everyone I know wants one now!

To make one, you will need the follow materials and tools:

Turquoise chips, enough to string on 6 inches of chip beads
*5 Sterling charms
5 Split rings
1 Lobster claw clasp
1 jump ring
2 - 2x2mm Sterling crimp beads
Crimping pliers
About 9 inches of .015 beading wire
Ruler

*Note: The charms on this bracelet include a fish, sand dollar, mermaid, scuba diver, and conch shell. Obviously, you can create any theme you'd like by simply using different charms.

1. Begin by adding split rings to your charms. Of course, if your charms already have jump rings on them, then you won't need to do this.

2. Finish off one end of your beading wire with a crimp bead, making sure to add a jump ring onto your beading wire before closing up the crimp bead.

3. Then thread on turquoise bead chips until they measure 1 inch.

4. Slip on one of your charms.

5. Again, add more turquoise until you have another inch.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have added all your charms and end with one inch of turquoise.

7. Finish off the other end with a crimp bead and add your clasp to the beading wire before closing up the crimp bead.

Because of the weight of this piece, I recommend using either a lobster claw clasp, like I did, or you could also use a toggle.
