Big News For Big Crimping

The Mighty Crimper

Crimping the ends of jewelry pieces, such as bracelets and necklaces, has become a very popular finishing technique. However, as with any kind of specialized jewelry making technique, you need the right tool for the right job. And, let’s face the ugly truth…sometimes your average pair of crimping pliers just don’t cut it or should I say crimp it.

To help alleviate part of this problem, one attempt was made awhile back to create a smaller pair of crimpers, the Micro Crimpers, and they work really well if you are using thin beading wire (for example .010) for delicate pieces such as pearl necklaces. They are a scaled down version of the regular crimping pliers and are made to use the tiny 1x1 size crimp beads.

But, what about if you want to use thicker beading wire or even ribbon? You were out of luck until now! Yes, now there is a monster size pair of crimping pliers available called the Mighty Crimper. It’s a scaled-up version of your regular sized crimping pliers and is made to crimp the larger 3x3 size crimp beads.

Finally, there are crimping pliers available for every size job: small, medium, or large. Beadshop.com sent me a pair to try out, and I found them very easy to use, but of course, I crimp pretty regularly these days. So, if you are familiar with crimping, then you’ll be able to use these pretty easily. If not, or if you just want to know how to make a beautiful organza ribbon necklace using 3x3 crimp beads and the Mighty Crimper, stop by their website at beadshop.com and click on the “How-to” icon at the top of the page for complete instructions.
