Tips for Handling Jewelry Repairs

By Tammy Powley, About.com

In your typical fine jewelry shop, jewelry repairs tend to be its bread and butter. Repairing jewelry is such an integral part of the jewelry industry that your average bench jeweler will probably have taken at least one class in jewelry repair.

Now, for the jewelry artisan, jewelry repairs may not be as important as they are for a jewelry shop, but they are still part of the business. So, how do you handle repairs? Should you handle repair?

Read on for some tips I’ve learned over the years when dealing with jewelry repairs. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but through trial and error, I’ve come up with a few methods that you may find helpful.
