Power Bracelets

Ive had tons of email about these trendy bracelets. The design of a power bracelet is actually very simple and obviously requires little skill. Beads, strung on elastic, tied in a knot - thats basically how they are constructed. However, the big problem is finding the elusive three hole bead! Of course, you could try to drill an extra hole in a bead. Im sure there is even equipment available to do this. Without special equipment, it is just too difficult to keep the drill head from slipping off the bead. Ive tried it. So, Ive been messing around with a way to avoid the three hole bead. You can take it or leave it, but I thought it was worth a try. Heres how I made my own power bracelet.
Youll need the following:
Elastic cord (about 10 inches)
Stone Beads (about 20)
1 bead with large hole
1 cylinder shaped bead with large hold
scissors
To make my power bracelet prototype, I strung 8mm hematite beads onto my elastic cord. A true power bracelet uses cord the same color as the beads, but I had gold already in my stash, so thats what I used. If I were to make more of these, Id get white cord and dye it to match.
After string on my stone beads, I then strung on a green bone bead that had a fairly large hole in it. Then I brought the other end of the cord through the bone bead in the opposite direction. Below is an image of how I did this.

Next, I brought the ends of the elastic together and strung them through my cylinder shaped bead. (A skull bone bead worked will for this.)
Finally, I just tied an over hand knot so all the beads were snug together. Then I trimmed the left over elastic so there was only about ½ inch left sticking out of the skull bead.
Yes, you can see the elastic when you use this technique. However, if the elastic was the same color as the bead used, I dont think it would be very noticeable.
