Martini Earring Directions

To make these cool Martini Earrings you'll need:

2 pewter martini charms (I got mine from Fire Mountain - item# 14-6989FN)
4 inches of 21 gauge sterling wire
2 sterling crimp beads
2 - 4mm (or size 8) green glass beads
wire cutters
jeweler's file
flat-nosed pliers
round-nosed pliers

1. Start by cutting your wire in half and use a jeweler's file to file all ends smooth. So, you should have 2 pieces of wire that are each 2 inches in length.

2. Then using my instructions for making a Bead Ear Hook Variation, start to make the ear hook. You'll notice the instructions for this call for a little less wire. That's because for these Martini Earrings, my bead kept coming off. So, after you add your green bead, slip on one of your crimp beads.

3. Now use flat nosed pliers to fatten the crimp. (You can try your crimping pliers too, but they didn't work for me. The wire was too thick.)

4. Then continue to use the Bead Ear Hook instructions to finish the hook.

5. Repeat this to you have 2 beaded ear hooks.

6. Now, gentle open the loop on your ear hooks, slip on one of the martini charms, and close the loop.

7. Repeat the above step for the other earrings, and you're done.

Can't find similar olive colored beads like the ones I used here (I can't for the life of me remember where these came from!), a good substitute would be a 4mm round olive colored crystal bead.

Even if you aren't part of the "martini crowd" these days, these are fun to wear. And, heck, if you have some friends that enjoy going to those upscale martini bars, this would be the perfect gift.
