Big Pearl Bracelet

While watching a Lee Sands show on QVC one day, they showed a beautiful, big pearl bracelet that was strung on stretchy cord. Of course, I thought, "I could make that." I love pearls (I wear my Woven Pearl Bracelet at least a few times a week), and I decided I could use another nice pearl bracelet. In fact, I had just gotten a roll of Stretch Magic from Soft Flex ®, and I knew I had some nice, fat potato pearls in stock, so I went to work on this Big Pearl Bracelet.

To make one, you’ll need:

approx. 8-10 inches of Stretch Magic size .5mm
about 30 potato pearls
scissors
glue (like super glue)

The number of pearls you need and the amount of cord will depend on a few factors such as wrist size and pearl size. I normally wear about a 7 inch bracelet, so I made my bracelet 6 inches long. My pearls are approximately 5mm in size, and I needed 28 for my bracelet. You’ll need to make adjustments depending on how large your pearls are and who large you want your bracelet to be.

1. If you have a roll of stretchy cord, leave the cord on the roll and start stringing on pearls onto the end of the cord. If you don’t have your cord on the roll already, add a piece of tape to the other end of the cord so that the pearls don’t slide off.

2. Once you get about six inches of pearls on (if you wear a 7 inch bracelet), double check that it fits around her wrist. It should be a little tight because, remember, the elastic will stretch some.

3. Now tie two over hand knots very tightly together with the two ends of the cord.

4. Cut the cord so that there’s a few inches of cord sticking out still.

5. Dab some glue onto your knots.

6. Once the glue dries, trim off excess cord.

Yes, there is a visible knot, but unless you have bionic vision, the knot is very difficult to locate on your bracelet. I can find the knot on mine, but I really have to look for it.

Pearls are always in style, and now with stretchy cord, you can be on the cutting edge of fashion with this pretty big pearl bracelet.
