Elastic & Pearl Grandmother Bracelet

I was looking for a different style in mothers' and grandmothers' bracelets from my previous Grandmother Bracelet project, and after playing around, I came up with this Elastic and Pearl version. The clear and light amethyst crystals in this bracelet represent the birthstones, and I used jet colored crystals around these as accents. Since both the clear and the amethyst crystals are so light, the dark crystal beads help them stand out. Obviously, you can adjust the colors of crystal beads you use to represent other birthstones. Also, this can be used for either grandmothers or mothers.

You'll need:

4 - 6mm jet AB Swarovski crystal beads
1 - 6mm light amethyst Swarovski crystal beads
1 - 6mm clear Swarovski crystal beads
15 - 4-5mm pearl beads
21 spacer beads
10 inches of .05mm elastic
scissors
binder clip
or your choice of glue

1. Start by attaching your binder clip (available in office supply stores) to one end of your elastic.

2. Now add 14 pearl beads alternating with spacer beads. Make sure you end with a spacer bead before continuing.

3. Then slip on the rest of the beads in this order: 1 jet, 1 spacer, 1 birthstone crystal, 1 spacer, 1 jet, 1 spacer, 1 pearl, 1 spacer, 1 jet, 1 spacer, 1 birthstone crystal, 1 spacer, 1 jet.

4. Detach the binder clip, grasp both ends of your elastic, and tie a square knot.

5. Dab a dot of glue onto the knot. (There are lots of glues that work for this. Normally, I use what I have around. For example, a few glues I use include a brand called Special T Illusion, and I also have used hypo-cement.)

6. Trim off excess elastic, but be careful that you don't cut too close to the knot.

7. Gently pull the knot inside of the last jet bead you added in step 3.

8. Allow the glue to dry per the manufacturer's directions. (I usually let mine dry 24 hours to be on the safe side.)
