Tacky Beaded Chopsticks

I used Terrifically Tacky Tape and Shimmerz glue along with Treasure beads and Micro beads to create beaded chopsticks.

1. I took two paper plates and sprinkled Treasure beads on one and Micro beads on the other.

2. Then I cut a piece of tape a few inches long and attached it to a chopstick.

3. I peeled off the back of the tape, and then wrapped the tape around the stick.

4. According to the demonstration at the Bead Expo Soft Flex booth, a hair dryer or embossing gun will help the tape stick to the item you are going to bead. (I tried it without heating it too, and though it works, I could tell the heat does help the tape to stick a little better.)

5. I then rolled the stick in the Treasure beads and used my fingers to press the beads firmly to the tape. If any beads had trouble sticking (such as some of the bugles), I pulled them off.

6. Next, I tried rolling the stick in the Micro beads. These are supposed to help cover the tiny crevices that the other beads miss. I didn’t think this technique worked to well, so I poured the beads over the stick.

7. Again, I used my fingers to press the beads against the tape.

8. I set the stick aside to cure for 24 hours as recommended.

I was pleased with the results of my finished beaded chopstick. I made a few more and tried to use the glue, but it was very messy and the beads kept sliding off the stick. I concluded that the glue works better with flat objects. I used the glue to decorate a drawstring jewelry bag, and it worked fine with that.
