Bugging Out

I got a few of these fun bug beads from my lampwork connection, D.D. Hess, and they made me think of summer fun. So, I thought they would be perfect as a wine glass jewelry dangle. While ring size memory wire isn't the easiest to work with (it's just so darn small!), this project is pretty quick to make.

You'll need the following:

1 loop of ring size memory wire
18 size 6 red glass beads
1 bug bead
1 head pin
round-nosed pliers
*wire cutters
flat-nosed pliers

*Note: Make sure when working with memory wire that you do not use your good wire cutters or they will be permanently damaged. You'll need some very heavy-duty wire cutters for this.

1. Start by making your bug dangle. Slip one red bead, one bug bead, and one red bead onto a head pin.

2. Then use round-nosed pliers to make a wrap loop on one end of the head pin, and set this piece aside for later.

3. Use round-nosed pliers to make a curl on the end of the memory wire. You may also need to use flat-nosed pliers to help close this curl.

4. Slip on 8 red beads, your bug dangle created in steps 1 and 2, and 8 more red beads.

5. Make another curl on the other end of the memory wire as you did in step 3.

Now you are ready to add your bug jewelry to your wine glass.
