Earth Day Winners!

I’ve calculated the votes and the winners have been decided. I won’t keep you in suspense any longer.

First Place, and the winner of a $500 Prize Package from Soft Flex ®, is Entry 38 by Evelyn Villegas : "Captured Sunlight" The Smoky Quartz pendant represents the rich earth of the rainforest. The rutiles within are slivers of sunlight, penetrating its furthest corners. The quartz beads of the necklace symbolize Arctic ice, with glistening rutiles dancing throughout. Harmony between Mother Earth and the Heavens.

Second Place, and the winner of a $300 Prize Package from Soft Flex ®, is Entry 32 by BrendaLea Abbott: Beads that I used are ‘recycled' from left overs of completed projects. The branch (made onto memory wire) and it's new growth represents Mother Nature. The flowers (one made using wire) are because Earth Day is during the first part of Spring when the flowers are just beginning to bloom.

Third Place, and the winner of a $200 Prize Package from Soft Flex ®, is Entry 9 by Denise Cruey May: Tree Brooch: What better place for a wire tree to be rooted than an agate donut? The agate is stone of the earth in the spherical shape of Mother Earth. The tree is formed of brown twisted wire and sprouts glass leaves in colors of all seasons.

Fourth Place, and the winner of a $100 Prize Package from Soft Flex ®, is Entry 35 by Wanda Power: "Pristine Bluffs" - 14 kt gf square and half-round wire-wrapped pendant plume agate with silver-blue freshwater pearl accent. This piece creates an impression of the ocean crashing on tall bluffs, depicting our natural environment, and the lessons to be learned, so we can better understand our relationship with the earth.

Fifth Place, and the winner of a $50 Prize Package from Soft Flex ®, is Entry 3 by Dale Pilling: The necklace is made of sterling wire, 24k gold over terra cotta and terra cotta beads. Circular links represent the continuity of life, with each link interconnecting to others. Terra cotta is clay taken from the earth. The colors are seen in rainbows that brighten the sky after a storm.

I hope you all get a chance to go take another look at our Earth Day Gallery so you can see the names of all the talented artists that entered our competition.
