You will need the following supplies:
No. 2 nylon cord w/attached needle
2 sterling bead tips
choice of hook
38 - 4mm pearls
20 - 6mm red cathedral beads
20 - 6mm blue cathedral beads
flat nosed pliers
1. Start by attaching a bead tip onto the end of your nylon cord. Though you could use other types of thread (such as beading wire), I really prefer to use nylon or silk when stringing pearls. It seems to drape better.
2. Start with a red cathedral bead, and alternate the beads so that your pattern is red, white, blue, red, white, blue, etc. 3. Finish the other end with another bead tip.
4. Then add your choice of clasp. I chose to use a flower for the eye part of the clasp (which I also refer to as a clover ), and a simple hook for the other side of the clasp.
The finished necklace is approximately 16 inches in length. Obviously, you can make it whatever length you'd like.
For cathedral beads or pearls, you can find a huge selection of bead vendors under Beading Supplies.
