Gettin’ Jiggy

Jigs are every where today. Commercially available jigs are made using everything from plastic to metal. Though it’s easy to make your own jig using wood and nails, today’s jigs add a number of conveniences that make them worth considering. The most obvious convenience is that the pegs can be moved around, so you can create an infinite number of patterns. Also, the manufacturers have already created designs, so you can follow their instructions instead of figuring out your own.

There are now a number of jigs on the market. Luckily, they’ve all "plugged into" the Internet. Below is a list of the jig companies and also a few vendors who sell some of these jigs. Some companies also sell their products retail. Check their web sites to find out if they do. All these companies also provide an assortment of wire and tools that can be used with wire jigs. If you have a local bead store, you might also find some of these jigs there.

Distributors:

Artistic Wire Ltd.
This company now offers the Jewelry Jig which retails for $13.99 and is currently being shipped to stores now. Any retailer that normally sells their wire will probably be carrying this jig too. I’ve only seen this advertised and have not seen one up close. So, I’m unsure of what it’s made of. It looks like plastic, but I could be wrong.

TSI Shapechanger
This jig is made of aluminum and is currently selling for the introductory price of $20.01. I’ve seen this advertised in a number of magazines.

WigJig
They offer a number of jigs from their smallest Original WigJig retailing for $19.95 to their larger Olympus retailing for $49.95. Some of their jigs are made of metal and some are made of acrylic.

Wire Wizard
Corrine can be found demonstrating the Original Wire Wizard Universal Jig ($49.95) and the new Deluxe Jewelry Jig ($74.95) at various shows through out the country. Both jigs are made from heavy duty aluminum.

Jig Retailers:

The Bead Shop
Though this is a bead shop, they also have lots of goodies for the wire worker including jigs, tools, and wire.

Rio Grande
As usual, Rio Grande has it all. They carry WigJig® products available in their tools and equipment catalog.

Rings & Things
This is a wholesaler, not retailer, but they also carry WigJig® products.

Soft Flex Online
They sell related wire products, tools, and jigs from WigJig.®

Of course, there are lots of other companies that retail wire jigs. But, the above links are a place to start if you’re thinking of getting one.
