Sticky Beaded Patterns

My friend, Pasty, who is a sales rep for Lacy’s, sent me an interesting new product to try out. This Self-Adhesive Pattern Sheet is designed so that you can stick a pattern onto leather, Stiff Stuff ®, or fabric. Then you can bead and just peel away the plastic sheet when you are done. So, I gave it a test run.

1. First you would need to start by adding your design onto sheet. My sample already had this cute flower design on it. However, you can add your own design using a photocopier, or drawing the design directly on the sheet with a pencil or ink pen.

2. Peel away the back of the adhesive sheet, and stick it to your choice of materials. I used some fabric I had.

3. Then I used some Japanese cream colored seed beads and matching thread to sew around the flower design. I basically used the same technique as I did for beading around a cab.

4. Once I finished beading around the flower, I couldn’t wait to see the results any longer, so I decided to stop at that point and pull off the sheet.

I found the adhesive very easy to use. The only draw back I noticed, which wasn’t much, was that when the needle come through the adhesive, eventually it gets a little sticky. So, I had to wipe the end of my needle occasionally in order to make it easier to get the seed beads onto the needle.

If you are a seed beader, then you can only imagine the possibilities. You can decorate clothing, hand bags, and all kinds of accessories.
