Wrapping an Opal Glass Cab

After making some of my "Opal Glass Cabs", I as anxious to wear one. So, I printed up my "Wrap a Cab" article. It had been awhile since I had wrapped a cab, and I thought my instructions would be helpful. Well, it’s pretty bad when you won’t even follow your own instructions, but after I had gotten to a certain point in the instructions, I decided to make a few changes. I couldn’t help myself. The result turned out pretty well. The instructions are very similar, but I just changed a few steps near the end to create this wrapped opal cab pendant.

Start by following the instructions in my "Wrap a Cab" project. You will need all the same supplies and equipment listed for this project. Complete all the steps from 1 to 9. After step number 9, follow my various listed below.

1. At this point, you have six wire at the top of your cab. Spread the wires out so that one is directly in the middle and five are spread evenly around the top of the cab.

2. On the five spread out wires, use wire cutters to trim off all but about ½ inch of wire.

3. Then use round nosed pliers to curl each wire over.

4. For the single wire in the middle, you should have a few inches of wire left. Use round nosed pliers to make this into a loop.

5. Then used flat nosed pliers to wrap the wire around itself to create the bale.

I added a gold chain through my bale. You could create your own chain or add this to a beaded necklace.
