You'll need:
Red, white, and blue size 11 Japanese seed beads or Delica beads
Needle and thread (I used white silamide.)
Scissors
Pin back
You don't need to be a peyote expert, but if you've never tried peyote, I recommend taking a look at my Beaded Bead project to learn the stitch.
Each stripe of the flag is made using four rows of peyote:
Row 1 & 2 - 16 red beads (Remember that in peyote, the base row is considered 2 rows.)
Row 3 & 4 - 8 read beads
Row 5, 6, 7, & 8 - white beads
Row 9 & 10 - red beads
Row 11 & 12 - 4 blue and 4 red beads
Row 13, 14, 15 & 16 - 4 blue and 4 white beads
Snake the thread back through the beads, knotting if desired, and trim off excess threads. Do the same with the tale.
The completed flag is a little large than an inch wide and ¾ of an inch high. Of course, the finished flag size will depend on the size of your beads. I used Japanese seed beads for mine. If I were to use Delias, the flag would be smaller.
