Clasps & Your Jewelry Designs

Findings are important part of jewelry design. We couldn’t make jewelry without them. Clasps, in particular, are critical element to a jewelry piece because they can actually enhance the look of a piece. Listed here are some of the most often used clasps in jewelry designs.

Toggle Clasps can be used on necklaces or bracelets. Not only is this a nice looking clasp, but it’s one of the easier clasps to hook without assistance.

Spring Ring Clasps actually have a small spring inside which allows the clasp to open and close.

Lobster Claw Clasps have a reputation for being one of the most secure clasps to use on jewelry designs. That is why it so often used on gold pieces.

Lanyard Clasps are most often used on necklaces such those made from hemp or waxed cord.

Hook & Eye Clasps can be made easily using wire and work best with necklaces.

Safety Clasps are used often with gold jewelry because the sliding clasp actually has a small piece that latches the two ends of the necklace or bracelet together.

Slide Clasps has one piece that slides into another piece. The clasp pictured also has a number of loops which allows a multi-strand necklace to be created using this clasp.
