There are a number of ways to finish off a necklace or bracelet. Bead tips, also known as clam shells, are one of them.
Difficulty Level: easy Time Required: 15 minutes
Here's How:
- Tie 2 over hand knots, one on top of the other, in your thread (nylon, silk, etc.).
- Trim off excess thread so the knots are at the end of the thread.
- Insert opposite end of the thread (which may or may not have a needle on it) through the hole in the bead tip so the knot rests inside.
- Use pliers to close the bead tip around the knot.
- String on your beads.
- Add a bead tip to the end so the bead tip faces away from the beads.
- Tie 2 more knots on top of each other so the knots rest inside the bead tip.
- Trim off excess thread.
- Use pliers to close the bead tip around the knot.
- Add a little glue to your knot if you want to be extra sure it will stay inside the bead tip.
- Bead tips are also called clam shells, but they are basically the same thing.
- Bead tips can be found in base metals as well as silver and gold.
