Birthstone List

Match the Month With the Stone

By Tammy Powley, About.com

When making jewelry, it’s always helpful to know the stones that related to people’s birth-month. This is especially important if you are making mothers’ or grandmothers’ bracelets. Even if you can't afford the real stone, like ruby or emerald, you can often find the crystal beads that are the same color of the stone you wish to use, so you can use these to represent the birthstone. Here's a list of birthstones to use as a reference:

January: Garnet

February: Amethyst

March: Hematite or Aquamarine

April: Diamond

May: Emerald

June: Pearl or Moonstone

July: Ruby

August: Carnelian or Peridot

September: Sapphire

October: Opal or Tourmaline

November: Topaz or Citrine

December: Turquoise or Zircon
